Our organic certification is now with CCOF!
California Certified Organic Farmers is the oldest organic certification entity in the USA.
CCOF’s mission, “to promote organic agriculture for a healthy world” aligns with our core values here at Crimson Sage.
CCOF spans the breadth of North America and is internationally recognized.
We are honored to be part of the CCOF family of farmers, ranchers, processors, retailers, consumers, and policymakers “working to realize a future where organic is the norm.”
Crimson Sage Nursery is now solar powered!
We are in unprecedented times, especially climate-wise. It is a feat that farmers are able to produce high quality crops in the extreme weather we have been experiencing.
It is humbling to realize how much we rely on the Earth Systems to support and sustain us in everything we do.
As a plant nursery, we feel we are in service to Mother Earth and do everything we can to conserve water, steward the land we are on, and take good care of the people who work here.
It’s our mission of love to grow plants that will help you take care of your people and places as well. In spite of the challenges, we will continue to do our best to grow the best plants for you!
On a Personal Note
One way I am caring for my friends and family this winter is with herbal soups made from the nursery’s stock that I grow out in my own gardens.
Into every broth I add Astragalus roots, Codonopsis, Nettle, Burdock, Cardamom, Turmeric, Ginger, Ashwagandha, Parsley, Thyme, Marjoram, and Rosemary.
I also include whatever organic seaweed, vegetables, grains, beans and/or meat & bones (if you’re into that sort of thing) I have on hand, and serve it nice and hot – and often!
To keep myself fortified, I sip on lemon balm, red clover, red raspberry leaves, nettles and oat tops tea daily. I’ll add a little blue vervain when the weight of the world is upon me, or echinacea and elderberry when my son comes home from preschool with the sniffles.
I love the green flavor of the tea. Sometimes, if I crave something sweeter, I will add a little honey from my neighbor’s hives, and drink to the bee’s health and well-being!
Many thanks to all of you for supporting this tiny, women-owned business!
Wishing you and your loved ones a healthy, happy winter!
May the abundance of our gardens continue to nourish you throughout the year!
