Description
Traditionally, the Spring harvested root bark of Sassafras was used in the manufacture of root beer. It was also a folk remedy for cleansing the blood and treating digestive problems, colds, fevers, high blood pressure, and rheumatism. Due to possible liver and kidney toxicity it has fallen into disfavor. A delightful small tree. Cold hardy to zones 4-9.
