Description
A very graceful, conical tree 50-150 feet tall native to The eastern Cascades and Sierra of Oregon and California and down into Baja. Native Americans had numerous uses for the fragrant leaves including burning the foliage ritually in their sweatlodges for purification. The steam was inhaled for respiratory problems and the tea was taken with caution for stomach issues. The leaves are often incorporated into smudge sticks. The rot resistant wood was traditionally used for making bows and in basketry. Beautiful, evergreen tree which is very drought tolerant and prefers full sun. Hardy to zones 5-8
