Mandrake

This is a variety of M. officinalis with identical medicinal and magical applications. This plant begins its vegetative cycle in mid-winter and flowers in the spring. It then fruits before going dormant during the summer. It was known to cause strange delirium and madness. The human baby – like roots are the source of much lore!! Caution! Perennial. Hardy to zones 4-8.
